We are thrilled to welcome Spencer Mahaffey to the Bouchard lab!

Spencer Mahaffey serves as the Bioinformatics Software Engineer for the lab, leveraging a dual background in Molecular Biology and Computer Science. He holds an M.E. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder and dual B.S. degrees from the University of Wyoming. Spencer possesses deep domain knowledge, having performed both bench work and software development for M. tuberculosis research and diverse multi-omics projects (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics). He applies this interdisciplinary expertise to empower the research team, designing robust systems for scientific data management, automated analysis pipelines, and interactive visualization tools. By bridging the gap between raw data and biological insight, Spencer enables researchers to efficiently process complex datasets and interpret their findings with clarity.
